Travel Information

Greifswald is located in the North-Eastern corner of Germany near the Baltic sea and the Polish border. The city is easily accessible via fast trains from Berlin or Hamburg international airport.

 

Arriving from Berlin

 

Berlin is served by two international airports, Berlin Tegel and Berlin Schönefeld. Upon arrival in Berlin, go to Berlin Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) with bus (from Tegel airport) or city train (from Schönefeld airport). Taxi fares from the airports to Berlin Central Station will be about 20 to 30 Euros.

 

Trains to Greifswald leave regularly (direction Stralsund or Binz / Rügen). Be sure to catch a fast train (approx. 2 hours to Greifswald, Intercity / Eurocity).

Arriving from Hamburg

 

From Hamburg Central Station, catch a fast train to Stralsund (via Rostock). In Stralsund, change to a train to Greifswald (approx. 2 hours to Greifswald).

Getting to the Conference Venue

 

The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg is located downtown in the heart of the city of Greifswald and is within walking distance from any of the hotels suggested in the Accommodations section. See the Wissenschaftskolleg's website for details: www.wiko-greifswald.de
