Welcome From SAA PresidentDear SAA members and interested others, As President of the Society for Ambulatory Assessment (SAA) I would like to invite you to attend the first biannual conference of the Society, June 26-28, 2009 in Greifswald, Germany. The theme for the conference is Bridging the Gap: the committee has developed a most interesting and engaging program concerning how ambulatory research and applications can supplement and inform the breach between constrained laboratory data and real life functioning. The SAA was founded in Spring 2008 with the intention of uniting the already well-established European Network for Ambulatory Assessment with a growing world-wide community. The Society is commencing a new chapter, fostering ambulatory research and applications across disciplinary and geographic boundaries. SAA is in the process of bringing researchers, clinicians and engineers from all over the world into a common platform in order to promote scientific exchange and excellence, while supporting scholars both young and old. In addition, we hope to define a broad range of topics relevant to ambulatory assessment and create a comprehensive framework for ambulatory assessment methods. To learn more about the SAA and its activities, please visit the website at www.ambulatory-assessment.org. The Society aims to provide a unique perspective for improved understanding of physiological, behavioural and situational factors in health and disease. The SAA conference should offer you the opportunity for scientific exchange and for learning about new ideas and research relevant to ambulatory assessment. Several invited lectures are planned in which international experts will present the very latest in innovative research and methodologies. The conference will be relatively small, providing an ideal environment to get to know specialists with similar interests. I and my colleagues from the SAA executive board very much hope to see you next year in Greifswald. Please, dont hesitate to come and get involved, send in your abstract and register for what promises to be a fantastic conference!
